COMPENDIUM
Mound of the Beastmen features the brand new "Compendium" booklet. The Compendium is a new feature in The Mound of the Beastmen expansion aimed at significantly improving the immersive experience for players. During the game, special boxes linked to events will activate the reading by the Evil Wizard player of scenario sequences which will allow players to immerse themselves in more crisp details concerning the quest in progress.
MONSTERS
The expansion is featuring new Beastmen monsters with four new types of creatures and their heroic variant, ranging from powerful Shamans (who have brand new spells) to ruthless Chaos Hounds, specially trained to devour intrepid adventurers. Finally, will you be up to face in single combat the gigantic Beast Lords?
If you wish to play this questpack in a proper way, you must provide yourself the right set of miniatures for the beastmen. Someone sculpted 3D models which can be downloaded from Thingiverse or bought already printed from other websites like Etsy or eBay (serch for "heroquest mound beastmen"). But you can eventually use any other proxies miniatures available (beastmen from Battlemaster for example).
ARTIFACTS
New legendary artifacts are found in this questpack. Jealously guarded by the Beastmen, these objects will be decisive in your quest for the Black Stone... Also, will you be bold enough to dare to brave the dangers of the dark corridors of the Tertre, to hope to master these ancient relics?
NEW TRAPS
Roam the corridors of the Tertre and learn how to thwart the new traps that the Beastmen will have mischievously scattered. From ancient tombs in which the dead lie not quite dead, to runic traps cast by the evil Shamans of the herd, to the traps of Chaos Hounds, you'll need to have eyes everywhere if you plan to get out of the Mound in one. piece.
ORANGE DICE
This questpack is featuring new dice rules, introducing the "orange dice". These special 16 mm plastic dice were originally created by someone at German website Spielwaren Saloon who also created many other dice variants for our favourite boardgame. They presents alternate faces with double skulls and double shields. A 14 mm, wooden version can also be found at ReproQuestshop
Thingiverse has also a 3D model available to print these dice.
I've seen also a new, transparent, 2021 style of the same dice in some Spanish group.
ARTWORKS
This was probably the first fanmade expansion featuring professional and original artwork drawn appositely for the questpack by his author. Mathieu drawn all the new tiles, card artworks and map icons. For the questbook cover he used instead a digital art by American artist
Laurel D. Austin that was drawn for the game Diablo by Blizzard

SEQUEL?
Seems this questpack was intended
do be the first chapter of a trilogy. The website name was originally
Dark Stone Trilogy, lately replaced by a Google page but still featuring
the word "trilogy" in the url. The epilogue also gives a clear hint for a sequel
when Mentor says something about a new mission for the heroes but
unfortunately no chapter two was written till now. We still hope Mathieu will surpise us one day by posting a sequel.
LANGUAGES
The original version was made in French but was also translated in three other languages.
Mathieu took the translations and formatted them into his files so that each of these countries may feature a common layout.
English version was translated by Knightkrawler and clmckay;
Italian version was translated by Yon and Aelfwine;
Spanish version was translated by Carlos J. López Alcázar.
